Abstract: Based on the analysis of 131 executive interviews, this study explores the relationships among three key aspects of the strategic use of information technology: the perceived strategic importance and effectiveness of IT, the perceived effectiveness of information security, and the perceived effectiveness of mobile device management. Relationships among the three sets of items are explored using NVivo qualitative assessment of executive comments along with correlation measures and differences in mean responses of Likert scale responses. The research findings indicated that organizations recognize the strategic importance of IT and the effectiveness of IT. Across industries, IT is strategically important but for some industries not as effective. Security is linked closely to mobile devices.
